A student’s life in school is jam-packed full of activities. There is so much to keep in mind and balance that you lose time for other aspects of your life.

Despite the fact that your top priority right now is studying, you should never underestimate the difficulties of cramming for a last-minute exam. With enough focus and determination, you can do anything.

1. Turn off social media

Our view of the world is definitely different nowadays because of social media. It has changed the way we keep up to date on the current situation in the world and the way we keep track of our friends.

We have become very reliant on social media to stay informed and establish new relationships. However, if you have an exam to pass, errands to run, or books to read, you will want to refrain from checking your social media feeds in the meantime. You should stay away from social media platforms until you have finished your online exams, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media platform that you use for social connections. If it won’t help you focus or distract you, leave it alone until then.

Many students have been affected by social media and even their scholastic performance as a result of access to social media. So, if you want to keep your concentration on your studies, stay away from any gadget that will let you open your account.

Do not use your phone, laptop, or other electronic devices to study and remember your lessons. Focus only on reading and memorizing your lessons to ensure that you pass your exams.

2. Gather all exam material

The most frustrating thing is not being able to locate all your study materials at the right time and having it negatively impact your study session. So, keep all your books and notes in one place so that they’re readily accessible. In addition to getting your documents ready, you should also have your study station ready for your sessions. Keep your desk clean and only keep your books, notebooks, pens, and papers on your desk. If you do not have any of those items, then purchase them from your local library or bookstore, which will be more convenient for you.

As soon as you have started studying, you should put away anything that might distract you from studying. Once you have started studying, you ought to then just focus on getting yourself ready for your upcoming online tests.

Another good thing that you ought to do is to get all the details about your upcoming tests. Getting a feel for its focus will also be helpful as it will enable you to understand exactly what you have to study and retain. Some professors provide pointers before class, but if your professor doesn’t provide them, perhaps you can ask.

3. Review your notes one more time

You should never underestimate the importance of taking notes or making flashcards so you can review everything you’ve read and studied while preparing for an online exam.

By jotting down your ideas, you have a better chance of remembering the details. Additionally, reading back the notes you have prepared allows you to refresh your mind and strengthen your ability to recall information quickly. You should schedule study sessions either alone or with a group of friends. Both setups have pros and cons. If you study alone, it’s easy to get bored or distracted, and no one can tell you off or remind you to go back to your study session. Alternatively, a group study situation allows you to discuss your lessons with like-minded people and ask them questions, though the study session tends to veer away from what really needs to get done.

4. Set Goals

There is a lot of focus and hard work involved in studying for an exam. It may seem like all you have to do is sit down, read, and write down some important information, but your brain needs plenty of energy to absorb all the information you read. Last-minute studying is not always advisable. Working out your brain too hard can sometimes cause serious physical and mental problems. You could lose sleep, be unable to eat a proper meal, or even become addicted to soda and caffeine.

When we strive to achieve a goal, one of the best ways is by rewarding ourselves. Giving yourself a prize for completing a goal is a worthwhile endeavour, regardless of whether you’re trying to balance your life as a school student or pursuing a diploma. You should practice studying constantly so that you will not have to stress yourself out by learning everything at the last minute.

The more relaxed and laid-back the study sessions, the more likely you are to retain everything you should. This way, even if there’s a sudden shift in the content, you’ll still be prepared. Make sure you stay on top of your studies, whether you are preparing for a big online test or just a weekly quiz. It will take a lot of time, energy, and effort before you achieve that graduate degree, so you might as well make it count.

5. Focus on big ideas

Did you know that you can train yourself to focus on the valuable information in a book rather than trying to memorize every word? Instead of trying to memorize everything in a course, you can focus on the most interesting parts instead. It’s important to determine which topics you have difficulty remembering. Perhaps you are doing well in Chemistry, but you’re struggling with some Calculus topics. Understanding which subjects are more challenging for you, allows you to improve your focus and prepare your brain for what needs to be prioritized.

Hence, try and incorporate the above 5 steps during your preparations, and get desired results.
